With the onset of the new school year comes an influx of students
— thus UPPA, in partnership with the National Institute of Physics and
Dorissimo, held a month-long welcoming event entitled FreshcaPAdes to welcome the freshies into a new chapter of their life!

FreshcaPAades consisted of different group activities held every week in order for the freshies to get to know one another as well as to promote friendship and camaraderie. As per tradition, the director of the institute, Dr. Roland V. Sarmago, gave a welcoming speech to the physicists-to-be in the NIP Freshman Orientation Program. Dr. May T. Lim, the Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, also gave a brief speech answering some of the frequently asked questions regarding academics.

Aside from team-building activities, UPPA also organized free Math 17 tutorials for the freshies. The Math 17 tutorials, headed by Eduard Renzo Santos, went on to continue beyond the month-long timeline of FreshcaPAdes in order to offer academic help as well as to supplement their learning from class.

The month-long festivities ended on a high note as the culminating night featured a party with performances from both UPPA and the freshies themselves, as well as prizes being given out in raffle draws. A fun night filled with laughter
— it was a great way to finish FreshcaPAdes and to celebrate the freshies' first month in UPD!
Again, UPPA would like to thank the National Institute of Physics and
Dorissimo for their help in making FreshcaPAdes possible. Special thanks also go out to Timothy Vincent Recla for heading the month-long event and to Christian Benedict Guevarra and Jana Paula Datu, two of the NIP Representatives to the CSSC, for their assistance.
Good luck to all of the 2015 freshies!
