The UP Physics Association (commonly referred to as UPPA) is an academic and scientific student organization based in the National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. It is primarily dedicated to the promotion of careers and interests in pure and applied physics and the individual development of students interested in these fields.
For more than 30 years, UPPA has been actively holding various activities mainly intended for the manifestation of its goals. Among them are PISIKAalaman - an inter-high school physics quiz bee, Physics Month - an annual celebration at the National Institute of Physics held every February that includes many other events and the Integration Bee – an event adopted from MIT’s contest on integral calculus. Several other internal events involving the members of the organization are also held for the development of the organization.
Since its foundation in 1980, UPPA has proudly developed leaders in the field of physics here and abroad, with several of its alumni serving key leadership positions in the National Institute of Physics, the National Research Council of the Philippines, the Samahang Pisika ng Pilipinas (Physics Society of the Philippines) and other numerous public and private institutions.
